Pool Installation in De Soto

On De Soto acreage along K-10, lot size is never the constraint, which changes what kinds of fiberglass shells are on the table. On a De Soto lot, there is usually space for a larger shell, a wider deck, and a real setback from the house — which opens up models that never fit a tight suburban yard. Kansas City summers run above 90 degrees through most of June, July, and August, and a home pool is the difference between enjoying that weather and hiding from it. Ford Concrete is an authorized dealer for Kisol, Elegance by Kisol, and Exclusive Pools — three of the strongest factory-built fiberglass lines on the market — and we install the shell, plumb it, backfill it, and pour the concrete deck with the same crew that handles our commercial work along K-10. For Sunflower, the Kansas River bluffs, Lexington Avenue, and the rest of De Soto, that means one contractor, one schedule, and a 15-year structural warranty on the shell.

Why Fiberglass in De Soto

On a De Soto acreage, fiberglass gives you options a suburban yard never has. The larger Kisol Master, Mediterranea, and Premium shells and the Exclusive Spazio and Spiaggia models all fit comfortably on a rural lot with room left over for a pool house, a pergola, or a larger concrete deck. Access is usually easier too — the crane that sets the shell has room to swing without taking down fences or trees. The structural case still matters: Kansas City's Wymore-Ladoga clay is the same clay out here as it is in the metro, and fiberglass handles the seasonal shrink-swell better than gunite does. And because Ford Concrete already runs commercial excavation and pad work along K-10, getting equipment to your De Soto site is just another dispatch for our crew.

Pool Installation FAQs — De Soto, KS

What is the warranty on a Kisol fiberglass pool?
Every Kisol, Elegance by Kisol, and Exclusive Pools shell we install in De Soto carries a 15-year structural warranty from the manufacturer. That covers the shell itself against structural defects. The gelcoat and Strufaldi ceramic tile surface finishes carry their own warranties. Ford Concrete backs the installation workmanship — excavation, backfill, plumbing, deck, and startup — on top of the manufacturer warranty.
How deep can a fiberglass pool be?
Most Kisol and Exclusive shells run from 3.3 feet in the shallow end to 4.7 feet in the deep end, which is the right depth for swimming, playing, and tanning-ledge lounging without being so deep that kids cannot touch. A handful of larger sport-oriented models push slightly deeper. Factory fiberglass shells do not come in diving-board depths — that is a tradeoff worth knowing up front, and we cover it honestly during the De Soto consultation.
How long does pool installation take in De Soto?
Most De Soto fiberglass pool installations run four to eight weeks from the day we break ground to the day you swim. That includes excavation, shell placement, plumbing, structural backfill, the concrete deck pour, equipment startup, and the walkthrough. Gunite pools typically take three to six months because of the cure time and tilework, so fiberglass is by far the faster path to a finished backyard.
Can you install a pool in De Soto's clay soil?
Yes — fiberglass is actually the right choice for De Soto clay. Kansas City's Wymore-Ladoga clay has a high shrink-swell rating, and a fiberglass shell has a small amount of structural flex that lets it live with seasonal movement rather than fight it. The key is the backfill, and we compact structural fill around the shell in lifts the same way we backfill commercial foundations. That is why our pool installations do not settle or heave the way a poorly backfilled pool in clay does.
