Concrete Sidewalks & Walkways in Excelsior Springs, MO

An Excelsior Springs walk fights two things at once: a downtown that slopes toward the Fishing River, and surfaces old enough to scale. The historic resort core sits in a valley with real grade, so the running slope down toward the Hall of Waters decides whether a walk stays a walk or needs to become a ramp — and the century-old concrete along it is often flaking at the surface. Both have to be solved together.

That's the walk we build here — the accessible route reset on a sloping historic core. Our sidewalk and walkway work handles the grade, and our ADA ramp crews carry the crossings where the slope tips past a walk. Nearby we pour the same routes in Kearney and Liberty.

Much of downtown Excelsior Springs was built in the resort era, and original concrete that old scales — the surface flakes and pits under a century of freeze-thaw and de-icing salt, until it's rough enough to catch a foot or a caster. A scaled surface is a failed route even when it's perfectly level, so the fix is a panel replacement with a durable, air-entrained pour, not a thin topping that scales again in a season.

Under it all is Clay County ground — silty upland clay grading to alluvium down in the Fishing River bottoms — mapped by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, holding moisture and moving with the season.
