Stamped Concrete in Buckner, MO

A large rural lot changes how a stamped patio gets built. Buckner's ground is the same Wymore-series expansive clay that runs under the eastern metro — heavy soil that swells when it takes on water and shrinks as it dries, which moves anything sitting on an unprepared base. We strip topsoil to firm subgrade, compact a stone base in lifts, and proof-roll it so the slab has something steady under it that drains instead of holding water against the clay.

Then we plan where the water goes. A rural lot rarely has a storm sewer to catch runoff, so we grade the patio to shed water off the pattern and carry it to daylight across the yard, away from the house and the footing.
